Florence Weisblatt is the co-founder and matriarch of Sam’s Furniture and Appliances. Way back in 1946, Sam and Florence were expecting their second child (now our CEO, Herb!). Sam had an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to be his own boss to provide for his family; so he opened a small grocery store. Sam managed the floor and did the selling; Florence kept the books and raised the boys. The business and the boys grew steadily. After a time, TV's and appliances replaced groceries. Sam added furniture to the store when the boys were in high school.
Sam passed away in 1976. Herb, Paul, and Florence vowed to keep Sam’s dream alive. After many years of hard work, Sam’s is today considered to be the largest Lease to Own store in the country. Florence is proud to work alongside her son, Herb, and her grandson, Seth, as their company grows and evolves toward an ever-changing future.
You’ll see Florence smile the most around her 'grands' and 'greatgrands'... 5 grandkids and 11 great-grandchildren! Always busy, Florence refuses to take a day off. You’ll see her at the store 6 days a week. “I’ve worked for over 70 years.”, says Florence, “What else would I do with my days?”
