Herb Weisblatt is President and CFO of Sam’s. Sam and Florence (his parents) started Sam’s in 1946 with $500 they saved and $500 borrowed and they invested more work and hours than anyone would ever believe today.
Herb has worked his whole life at Sam’s, after school and weekends, through college at TCU where Herb earned a BBA in 1968 - and managing all the details that allow a small business to survive. Herb has been fortunate to have had such a great mentor as his parents. In addition Herb attended dozens of management institutes and advanced seminars to help Sam’s stay ahead of the times in the way we do business.
Herb married Rosemary Rector, another Fort Worth native, and together they keep active and very “plugged” into the industry and community they both love. Herb’s three children have all married and have 6 grandchildren between them (4 girls and 2 boys).
Herb has been very active in the industry and has served on the boards of several local and national buying groups and is active in many trade organizations. Herb has helped dozens of other business people start or improve their own business, while helping thousands of customers to get what they want -- at lower prices -- while giving each customer better service and better merchandise.
Herb is very proud to be able to work with so many quality associates and customers and to see how the business has grown and survived through both good and tough times. “I firmly believe if you take care of your customers they will do the same for you. Our customers tend to pay us better than they pay other companies because we give them a better deal, and because we treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve. I believe it would be a better world if everyone would just take the time to care more.” Weisblatt says.
